TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR PEACH

6 cheeky tracks and one butt-bonanza playlist to get you going this Pride Month

With Mardi Gras, Midsumma, and many other summer celebrations behind us in Stra-yaa, we can’t help but feel a little left out of all the pumping queer parties overseas.

That’s why Happie Holl and Queer Records have teamed up to curate six sezzie tracks, and one thick playlist, to fire up those frosty booties over Pride Month. So, whether you’re packing your bags for a slutty Euro adventure, reading up on the Stonewall riots, or just tucking into that fav bott of pinot under a cozy blanket, we’ve got your butts and beats covered.

Throw Some Ass – Sofi Tukker (2024)

The latest offering from electronic duo Sofi Tukker really puts the ass into Yasss! Inspired by their recent travels around Brazil, the song celebrates shedding your inhibitions and popping your peach like no-one’s watching. We’re super excited for their upcoming album too, aptly titled BREAD (Be Really Energetic And Dance) out on vinyl in August.

Krisco Kisses – Frankie Goes To Hollywood (1984)

Yes, the obvious choice may have been Relax by 80’s synth band Frankie Goes To Hollywood. However, we’re here to highlight their lesser known butt banger, Krisco Kisses. Before Happie Holl and other designer lubes, gay men at the time often kept one of two things near their bed-stands – Vaseline or Crisco. And with lyrics like “let’s take it to the top, with a fist way past the wrist” we’ll let you interpret the meaning…

Lipstick Lover – Janelle Monáe (2023)

Although the lyrics aren’t specifically directed at the derrière, the video for this summer smash is a bonafide peach feast. Taken from Monáe’s 2023 album The Age of Pleasure, the song is a sensual celebration of queer self-confidence, matched by a reggae beat to bounce your booty to. Keep your eyes peeled for the dildo shower too!

Harder You Get – Scissor Sisters (2010)

Featured on their third album Nightwork, Harder You Get is a pulsating ode to gay sex, seemingly written from the perspective of a bottom. For bonus butt points, who could forget the album’s ass-tactic artwork! Featuring the chiseled cheeks of Broadway ballet dancer Peter Reed, the snap was taken by the late queer photographer Robert Mapplethorpe in 1980.

Butt Slutt – Kim Petras (2024)

Just like a petite ass that won’t quit, this 90-second butt bop is pert and perfectly-formed. Created by trans queen Kim Petras and taken from her latest EP Slut Pop Miami, you’ll have this tushy tune going round your head for days. Ruff ruff!

Ass Like That – Victoria Monét (2019)

Grammy winner Victoria Monét serves body positive realness in her empowering tune Ass Like That. The song’s 70’s-inspired workout video celebrates not skipping leg day and being proud of the head-turning results. Speaking to her self-confidence, Monét says “I reserve and deserve the right to talk about [my body] without the world's approval. They never asked for mine...”
